Why is this important?
The flag serves as an important reminder to the citizens of Earth that we should take care of each other and the planet we live on. It offers a shift of perspective, that we share this planet no matter national boundaries, ideologies and religious beliefs.

Purpose of the flag
1. To be used to represent planet Earth.
2. To remind the people of Earth that we share this planet, no matter national boundaries; that we should take care of each other and the planet we live on.
Oskar Pernefeldt, designer of The International Flag of Planet Earth and president of the nonprofit stewarding it, took the TEDx stage to share the flag with the world.

The International Flag of Planet Earth Organization (IFOPE-O) is a registered nonprofit organization representing the proposal of The International Flag of Planet Earth. Our mission is to make this flag recognized as the flag of Earth, by serving as its awareness agency.
